Brent Lees

Lighting & Sound Designer

Brent is full-time Chief Technician at The Dukes and is responsible for all technical aspects of Dukes Theatre productions and the screening of films for The Dukes cinema.

Brent has designed the lighting for many Dukes productions, notably Of Mice and Men, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Jamaica House, Sabbat, Sleeping Beauty, Under Milk Wood, The Accrington Pals, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

His Williamson Park productions include last year’s Jason and the Argonauts, and previously Beauty and the Beast, Grimm Tales, Tom Thumb and Other Giant Stories and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.

Outside The Dukes, Brent has designed the lighting for productions at the Octagon Theatre, Bolton. He recently designed for Meet the Mukerjees, Once Upon a Time in Wigan – Live, The Caretaker (nominated for the 2009 Manchester Evening News Theatre Award for Best Design), The Merchant of Venice (nominated for the 2008 Manchester Evening News Theatre Award for Best Design) and Looking for Buddy – which he has recently re-lit for Newcastle’s Live Theatre.

Other designs include productions at the Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal, Cats Eye Theatre Company, Young Vic Theatre, Royal Exchange Theatre and Dukes co-productions at the Old Vic Bristol and Library Theatre in Manchester.

He has also designed for Lancaster-based Ludus Dance, including their recent production ID:me. Last year, Brent was also responsible for the audio visual, sound and electrical installation for The Dukes’ new Round theatre. He is currently involved as lighting consultant for the Heron Cornmill in Beetham
