Work Experience at The Dukes
The Dukes aspires to become recognised as a Cultural Centre for Lancashire and prides itself on being a learning focused organisation. We believe that participation in the arts can provide life enhancing and at times life changing experiences and we are committed to supporting the educational development of the next generation of arts practitioners and professionals.
Our Four Tiered Training and Progression Programme support learners from using the arts for recreation through to accredited learning, work placements and traineeships and finally as emerging artists and arts professionals.
FOUR TIERED PROGRAMME
TIER ONE – INTERACT (5 – 25 years)
Young People participate in time specific projects through our schools programme and Young Peoples Programme
TIER TWO - DIPLOMA PROGRAMME (13 – 19)
Young People gain a more developed insight into the world of theatre and the creative industries via:
• Work Experience Opportunities (Years 9 and 10)
• Volunteering Opportunities
• Arts Award and AQA Accreditation
TIER THREE – YOUNG LEADERS PROGRAMME (13 – 25)
Young People are offered the opportunity to devise, fundraise, deliver and evaluate their own projects. We support young people through the following initiatives:
• Make it Happen (Individual project development)
• Structured Traineeships
• Media and Creative Arts Diploma
TIER FOUR - ARTIST AND COMPANY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (18 +)
Dukes incubate emerging artists and small socially focused organisations providing:
• Business matters support and training
• Support with project management and financial governance
• New work commissions and ‘real’ work opportunities
