The new season of NT Live productions kicks off with this Olivier Award winning play broadcast live from The Theatre Royal, Plymouth. Crossing three continents and several histories, Complicite’s  A Disappearing Number weaves together the story of two love affairs to explore one of the most mysterious and romantic mathematical collaborations of all time.

In London a man attempts to unravel the secrets of his lover. In Bangalore a woman collapses on a train. In Cambridge, 1914 Englishman GH Hardy seeks to comprehend the ideas of the Indian prodigy Srinivasa Ramanujan.

A Disappearing Number raises questions about mathematics and beauty; imagination and the nature of infinity; about what is continuous and what is permanent; how we are attached to the past and how we affect the future; how we create and how we love.

“A wonder and one I cannot recommend too highly”
