We create excellent original theatre for the region: The Dukes is the only building based producing theatre between Greater Manchester and Keswick and specialises in making new plays with a regional focus and sensibility. Without the Dukes, residents would find it very difficult to see new work that reflects their experiences, many having to travel over 50 miles to access another producing theatre.

Promoting diversity. We are committed to showcasing work from other cultures in order to broaden the experience of residents. In addition, we work with a wide range of communities to actively promote access to the arts for them: young people and older people, disabled people, people form ethnic communities and people on a low income.
