Captain Mermaid Theatre Company presents in association with The Dukes

Captain Murderer and The Morecambe Mermaid

Date & Time

Thu 1 Sep 2011 to Sat 3 Sep 2011

Where

The Round

This pitch black musical comedy presents a collision of maritime myth with a little-known shocker by Charles Dickens.

Exploring the real lives of historical fairground freaks, from a washed up sideshow mermaid to a drink addled clown, Captain Murderer and the Morecambe Mermaid is a sinister visual feast.

A fast-paced parade of puppets and masks, illusions and projections, this show is end of the pier escapism as you’ve never seen it before.

Roll up, roll up, come and see the  freaks. All live. They defy science. (Touching costs more.) Suitable for ages 14+.

Puppetry Workshops

The Dukes is proud to present a series of accompanying puppetry workshops, suitable for budding puppeteers as well as more experienced participants too.

Puppetry Masterclass (23/08/2011 07:00pm)

A more challenging class for those with some experience of puppetry.

First Steps in Puppetry (27/08/2011 10:30am)

This is a ‘taster’ workshop, designed for those with an interest in puppetry, but no previous experience.

Creating a Character using Masks (03/09/2011 10:30am)

The participants each select a mask, and are given a set of individual exercises to help them engage with it imaginatively.

Price £10 per class.
