The Rake

When researching conspiracy theories for a new show, Jon Spooner, Artistic Director for Unlimited Theatre, met Vlatko Vedral, Professor of Quantum Information Science at the University of Oxford. His world was radically changed by this meeting as Jon learnt of disappearing battleships and scientists in Vienna who have mastered teleportation.

Now, with the science bit under his belt, Jon is taking it upon himself to share his new found knowledge and reveal the impact that this extraordinary technology will have on human civilization.

From atomic replicas and bouts of invisibility to superposition and quantum entanglement, Jon will take you on a whistle stop tour of science and technology for the future. All in under an hour.

Find out how leading edge research in quantum physics is shaping the way in which the world will change in the next 50-100 years, how teleportation actually works and whether it might be possible to teleport people sooner than we thought and how this kind of knowledge can be a dangerous thing in the wrong hands and how we can get scientific discoveries more in to the public domain.

You’ll certainly laugh. You’ll definitely see things in a different way. You might be a bit scared of the future but you’ll be amazed to and what it has in store. You don’t need to worry about understanding the quantum physics bit.  Unlimited are ace at presenting complicated stuff simply. You’ll definitely be entertained. And you’ll leave the theatre with a bit of a spring in your step and want to change the world.

‘I went into this show with a heavy heart thinking the subject would be over my head. I came out wanting to change the world. Brilliant.’ -- Lyn Gardner, The Guardian
